When was the Institute of Management Studies (IMS) established?

The Institute was established way back in the year 2002 under the aegis of the University Department of Commerce & Business Management of Ranchi University, Ranchi.

Is IMS an affiliated college?

IMS is a self-financing institution, fully-owned, run and governed by Ranchi University, a state university under the Govt. of Jharkhand./

What are the minimum eligibility criteria for admission in the MBA programme of the Institute?

The minimum eligibility criteria for admission in MBA programme is a graduation in any discipline with 50% marks in aggregate in the bachelor’s degree. Students in the final year of their graduation may also apply provisionally, subject to the condition that, in case selected, they shall compulsorily produce the evidence of the required qualification on or before the prescribed due date, failing which their admission shall be summarily cancelled.

What courses are currently available at IMS?

The Institute has been offering its flagship 2-year fulltime Regular MBA course since its inception. We also plan to introduce short-term certificate and diploma programs in emerging domains such as corporate social responsibility, entrepreneurship, healthcare etc in near future.

I am an SC category student from Bihar. Can I avail reservation in admission along with fee concession permissible to SC & ST category students?

We strictly follow the reservation policy of the Government of Jharkhand which applies only to those SC, ST, OBC and BPL students who are domicile of Jharkhand with valid caste, income and residential certificates issued by the competent authority of the state of Jharkhand. As a consequence, the candidates of other states in the reserved category shall be treated as General category candidates. Further, the students from SC and ST categories who fail to submit valid Income certificate at the time of payment of programme fee shall not be allowed the fee-rebate applicable in their case and shall be charged the same programme fee as applicable for general category students. Further, no adjustments, whether retrospective or prospective, shall be made on this account.

I took the MAT test conducted by AIMA in the month of Feb 2017. Am I eligible to apply in the MBA course?

No. While we accept five different aptitude-test scores (CAT / XAT / CMAT / MAT / ATMA), as a matter of fact, we do not accept scores more than one year old, reckoning from the date of submission of application.

How should I apply?

All applicants interested in taking admission in the 2-Year Regular MBA Course are advised to first of all visit the Institute’s website and submit the Online Supplementary Application Form (OSAF) 2018. Upon submission, the students would immediately receive a PDF copy of the OSAF in their email which they need to print out on an A4 paper and submit along with other documents as detailed in the Application Checklist 2018 (available online as well as with the printed Application Kit obtainable from the admission counter).
